When Yash Raj Films gauged the potential of investing in tv they launched in to Tellywood with YRF band of shows. However the shows did not do well and soon were pulled off-air back to back. Now the production house has sensed the potential of young director and so has decided to set a department called Y Films (Y for Youth). It will be headed by Aditya Chopra and will comprise of young filmmakers.The objective of this project is to make intelligent, small and medium budget films. Success of films like ‘Udaan’ and ‘Peepli Live’ has been an eye-opener of the industry, to an extent that YRF that always believed in making mega-budgeted films set abroad that too with celebrities, turned to set special department for this kind of movies.
