‘How I Met Your Mother’ actress fights for ‘Avengers’ role

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that “How I Met Your Mother” star Cobie Smulders is in contention for the role of SHIELD Agent Maria Hill in Joss Whedon’s much-anticipated comic book film, “The Avengers.”

Smulders is reportedly up against four other actresses, including V’s Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas of Melrose Place, and Scott Pilgrim’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The auditions occurred yesterday, according to Deadline, and rumors have it that Smulders is Whedon’s leading actress for the role.

‘Inception’ and ‘The Social Network’ Win Writers Guild Awards

The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) tonight announced the winners of the 2011 Writers Guild Awards for outstanding achievement in writing for screen, television, radio, news, promotional, videogame, and new media writing at simultaneous ceremonies at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel-Grand Ballroom in Los Angeles and the AXA Equitable Center in New York City.

Priyanka Chopra was on a style disagreeable at the Big Star Entertainment Awards: Priyanka Chopra was on a style offensive at the Big Star Entertainment Awards on Tuesday, December 21, wearing a new dress for each appearance during the evening.

The Anjaana Anjaani star walked the red carpet in a black D&G strapless crochet lace dress with a fringed hem. She accessorized with silver strappy heels, silver clutch and light jewelry - drop earrings and a dainty bracelet in her right arm. Priyanka was the recipient of the New Talent of the Decade - Female Award which was presented to her by Band Baaja Baaraat lead pair - Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma.

While receiving the awards, the 28-year-old former Miss World flaunted her delightful curves in a body hugging black spaghetti strap gown with a bustier top and ruffled asymmetrical hem. Priyanka also performed during the evening, changing attires with each stage appearance. She variously wore a silver sari with a bikini top like blouse and black jeggings with red sparkly top.
