It's not every day in Bollywood that an actress who is just one- film- old is flooded with so many offers from top banners. " Her confidence sets her apart. Everyone has noted the fact that although Dabangg was her first film and she was paired with a superstar of Salman Khan's stature, she showed no signs of nervousness. " Being a star's daughter definitely gave her a headstart compared to other newcomers. It means she was considered for high- profile projects and got more leeway. It remains to be seen how she cashes in on the advantage. However, if producers are willing to shell out over a crore for the onefilm- old Sonakshi, that says a lot," an industry insider said. Salman is known to promote new talent. However, every newcomer who has made her debut opposite the superstar has somehow never managed to survive in Bollywood.

Turn back the clock, and you realise that Bhagyashree, despite her blockbuster debut in Maine Pyar Kiya , never quite succeeded in chalking out a career in Bollywood. After the Sooraj Barjatya superhit and her now- defunct marriage to flop actor Himalaya, Bhagyashree tried several comebacks in films as well as on TV but none have had any impact.

Similarly, Naghma, Salman's debutant co- star in Baaghi failed to make an impact in Bollywood. Subsequently, she did small roles in films such as Yalgaar and King Uncle before becoming a superstar in Tamil cinema.

Industry experts feel the pattern is a result of the fact that Salman's films hardly ever leave any scope for his actresses, especially newcomers. That's likely what happened to Chandni as well. In 1991, Salman starred opposite debutant Chandni in Sanam Bewafa . The Saawan Kumar- directed film, despite being a superhit, didn't help Chandni's career and she slipped into oblivion.

" In his ( Salman's) films, girls mostly don't get strong roles. They only have to dance and look pretty," said filmmaker Jag Mundhra. Sonakshi seems to have broken the jinx that the likes of Bhagyashree, Naghma and Chandni couldn't.

Sonakshi Sinha act in 'Race 2': Newcomer Sonakshi Sinha is not wasting anytime capitalizing on her popularity after her appearance in the hit movie Dabangg with Salman Khan, and now the actress has signed up for Race 2. Directed by Abbas-Mustan and produced by Ramesh Taurani, Race 2 also stars Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone.Sonakshi is definitely ready to take on new roles and told Hindustan Times, "Oh yes, there's more to me than the demure 'gaon ki sehmi-sehmi' Rajjo in Dabangg." In Shirish Kunder 's Hindi remake of the Tamil flick Kick, Sonakshi will once again star opposite Salman Khan. And in Shirish Kunder's 3D movie Joker she will work with Akshay Kumar.

But two new projects are not enough and Miss Sinha has now set her sights on Race 2. The movie that is set to start shooting next year is still missing one actress as producer Ramesh Taurani explains, "Yes we have finalised Sonakshi along with Deepika for the female lead and are now on the look out for one more actress to play the role of the female character."

Sonakshi came to attend an event organised by three NGOs in the memory of 26/11 victims at the Gandhi garden near the Mantralaya in South Mumbai. Sonakshi came to the event, sat for an hour and just as she was leaving a large group of people began following her. Among those who were her ardent fans, few were there just to create trouble. Sonakshi sensed something ugly and tried to fasten her stride, but the mob followed relentlessly. Some of them some started saying, "Idhar dekho naa, humse baat karo naa" as they tried coming close and some touched her on her arm and her shoulder. Their behaviour was disgusting and out-of order.

Sonakshi's bouncers rushed her out of the place and tucked her in the car that sped away. So shaken was the Dabangg girl that she was in tears when she left. It has to be said that such behaviour and that too at an occasion that demands one's complete respect and harmony, is completely unacceptable.
