Vidya Balan declines to gain weight

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan’s putting on weight program for her character in Dirty Picture. In the film,  Vidya Balan performs 1970s South actress Silk Smitha. The body weight will be faked, we’re currently informed.Genuine putting on weight is out of the query simply because Vidya Balan’s “sensitive metabolism” will not accept her to reduce it in occasion for her upcoming venture.
Producer of the film Ekta Kapoor explained a source, “has a proper mental image of what Vidya need to look like, since she’s spotted her father shoot with Silk Smitha.” “Vidya required to gained plenty of bodyweight but now that seems not possible because she’s little time to gain bodyweight for the part and shed it before she begins her next movie. Also her sensitive fat burning capacity does not allow a fast burning or gain of bodyweight,” the source included.
Ekta Kapoor verified the alteration in strategy. “We’re meeting as soon as I go back to Mumbai. We might make a decision to use prosthetics.

Vidya Balan may be a considerable prankster

Vidya Balan may be a considerable prankster: To subtantiate his claim, my informer recalled a fast one the actor pulled off on her stylist Vijeta recently. Seems the girl had recently watched Bhool Bhulaiyya and Balan’s performance had really scared her. The next evening, the actor called Vijeta to her room and clad in her Bhool Bhulaiya kinda outfit, mouthed her lines from the movie. Bas, aur kya? The poor gal was so petrified that she ran out of  room as fast as her shaking legs could carry her… much to Balan’s amusement.

Vidya Balan & Dev Patel meet together

Vidya Balan & Dev Patel meet together: WHENEVER you see Vidya Balan perform, you tend to believe that she does nothing by the book. Her star continues to rise, and it is a mark of how untouched she is - how real, if you like. Her portrayal of diverse and distinguished roles is a testament of quality, excelling in range, power and versatility. Her forthcoming role of Sabrina Lal in No One Killed Jessica is just one of many we will witness in the near future.DEVANSH PATEL: Isn't the title of No One Killed Jessica ambiguous? VIDYA BALAN: The title is very ambiguous but it has a deeper meaning to it. The day after the initial court case of Jessica Lal, when everyone got acquitted and the witnesses turned hostile, the conclusion was seen in the next day's newspapers with a headline, 'No One Killed Jessica". DP: What is cinema all about for you? VB: Cinema is all about stirring emotions. For me, that happened in No One Killed Jessica. It was also about an emotional journey of Sabrina, who was the face of the case, besides the media.

Vidya Balan: Crusader for equity to sexy siren

Vidya Balan: Crusader for equity to sexy siren: While Vidya Balan did go the de-glam way for her previous movie Ishqiya, it’s probably unfair to compare her looks in the former film and No One Killed Jessica. But one thing is for sure, Vidya manages to carry off a range of looks and emotions with the ease of a pro.
In No One Killed Jessica, inspired from the Jessica Lall murder case, Vidya’s role is based on Jessica’s sister, Sabrina Lall, who fought for her sister’s case. "There’s a real, vulnerable, raw quality to Sabrina," says Vidya, "She likes to

Vidya Balan: I reveled in trying an agamic individual

Now that her forthcoming film No One Killed Jessica is due to release, Vidya Balan is all set to sit back and await the audience’s reaction to her deglam role. Having played characters with depth (Ishqiya and Paa), this role gives Vidya a chance to display her histrionics without any fancy costumes or looks.

The actress says, “I really enjoyed playing an asexual person. I have worn the most uninteresting clothes and my make-up was done in minimum time. I normally take more time to dress up in my personal life than the time I took to get ready to play this character. It was a joy ride as my hairdresser would just tie my hair in a ponytail, the make-up guy would do the base… and I would be ready. In a way, the look helped me because as soon as I put on those oversized, shapeless clothes, I felt that it was not me; it took me into Sabrina, who was a very regular girl confronted with a life-altering moment.”

Vidya is now looking forward to The Dirty Picture. but admits, “I don’t know how I will prepare myself but I know (director) Milan Luthria knows how to present me in that role.

33 on January 1: Vidya Balan stays home on birthday

Vidya Balan spends her 33rd birthday with her parents

Vidya Balan turns 33 on January 1. The actress plans on bringing in her birthday and the new year at her parents' place in Khar.

Initially, she was planning to spend the special day with friends, but given the fact that she's been on the road promoting No One Killed Jessica for the last few weeks, Balan wants to be with her mom and dad.

A source close to Vidya says, "She's been in and out of Mumbai for the last six months. Earlier she was shooting for Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani for almost two months.

After that she got into the promotion of Jessica travelling to almost every major city. Her schedule hasn't given her any chance to spend time with her parents."

Since her birthday and New Year fall on the same day, Vidya has a double reason to celebrate.

Despite buying a new apartment in Khar, the actress wasn't able to renovate the place or spend time in it. Her New Year resolution is to buy some antique furniture and do up her place.

Every year, Vidya prefers to keep her birthday a low-key affair. Rather than go out with friends, she enjoys spending quality time with her parents. "This year will be no different.

She will bring in her birthday and the new year at her parents' house. Since she doesn't believe in cutting a cake, her mom plans to prepare a sweet dish on the occasion."

After the release of No One Killed Jessica, Vidya plans to start preparing for her next film Balaji's Dirty Pictures based on the life of Silk Smitha.

Fight to be more Bengali, Vidya Balan versus Rani Mukerji

Fight to be more Bengali, Vidya Balan versus Rani Mukerji: Imagine Vidya Balan staying up till 3 in the night and singing “Aar koto raat eka thakbo… Chokh mele dekhbo naa tomake…”That’s from Rani’s Believe It Or Not collection about her No One Killed Jessica co-star.

One is a Bengali by chance. The other a Bengali by choice. Between them on Monday evening, Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan were more like two Bengalis coming home to Calcutta than two big Bollywood stars coming to the city to promote their film.

The last time Rani and Vidya were seen together in Calcutta was in August, in the front row of designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s debut show in the city at Taj Bengal. On Monday, the venue was the same and both were again wearing Sabyasachi but this time the spotlight was firmly on the two women.

They had flown in from Mumbai earlier in the morning. And the moment they set foot in Calcutta, Vidya had squealed out loud at the airport. A concerned Rani turned around and asked her what had happened. “I am in my city!” Vidya replied. “Pagol meye!” Rani concluded.

A few hours later Rani was in the mood to make most of that mad streak. “I am telling you Vidya was a Bengali in her last birth... she loves to speak Bengali, she loves to eat Bengali food and she loves Bengali men,” Rani announced even as a stunned Vidya didn’t know how to react.

And then came the killer line. “Vidya would love to get married to a Bengali man who has a long surname ending with ‘jee’, like Chatterjee or Mukherjee,” Rani quipped, before adding: “She would love to be a Mrs Mukherjee.”

The impromptu Bengali jamming between the two Bolly beauties didn’t end there. Recovering from this sudden onslaught, Vidya started singing the Autograph chartbuster — “Aamake aamar moto thakte dao... aami nijeke nijer moto guchhiye niyechhi...”

Rani was not done. “See, her Bengali pronunciation sounds like a Bengali.” Vidya was ready with the repartee this time — “Karon aami mon theke Bangali!”

If Vidya’s Bengali was sounding just right — after spending two months in the city shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani — Rani’s Bengali was sounding very Lokhandwala. “Don’t make me speak more Bengali... I am getting exposed,” the Miss Mukerji herself pleaded.

Raj Kumar Gupta, director of No One Killed Jessica, confirmed that even on the sets of the film, which is inspired by the Jessica Lal murder case, it was one big, mad Bengali party. With Sabyasachi designing for both the actresses in the film, “everyone was jabbering in Bengali all the time”.

What’s more, they even shot a few crucial scenes of the film here in Calcutta — Maidan to New Market, Ballygunge to Dum Dum. “Sabrina Lal’s (Jessica’s sister, played by Vidya) journey brings her to Calcutta and it was important that we actually came to Calcutta to shoot that portion,” Raj Kumar revealed.

Cut to Monday morning, and it was Rani who was taking a trip down Calcutta memory lane. The actress had gone straight from the airport to Elgin Road for a bhanr of tea.

“It’s a place where my maa and mashi used to take me from the very beginning for bhanrer cha,” Rani told Metro. “I really enjoy it. There are so many things I would love to do here in Calcutta but I always come with so much work in hand that it never happens.”

But what binds Vidya to Calcutta? “Rani is always curious about my Bengali connection... ‘what is this connection I want to understand’, she asks me,” Vidya said. “Wish I could understand it myself....”

So has she become more Bangali than Rani? “That I don’t know, that I don’t know,” Vidya laughed out loud with a twinkle in her eye. “But all I can say is that Tomate aamate dekha hoyechhilo, jaani naa kobe kothay... That’s what I feel about Calcutta.”

Vidya Balan: Happy adolescent are no longer sitting amenity activists

Vidya Balan: Happy adolescent are no longer sitting amenity activists: 'No One Killed Jessica' actress Vidya Balan says she feels glad that today's youth are not just clear about their opinions but know how to voice them and drive the government to act - as was seen in the Jessica Lall murder case.

'I think it's very interesting that youth are voicing their opinion on issues and willing to participate through blogs, SMSes and even social networking sites. And the media has helped youth a lot in mobilising public opinion. I am glad youth are not armchair activists saying justice should be meted out. Youth of today say, 'We can be part of the process to make sure justice is given'. It's wonderful,' Vidya told IANS in an interview.

The 32-year-old has a vivid recollection of youth participation during the over-a-decade-long legal battle following the murder of model Jessica Lall, who was shot dead by Manu Sharma, the son of a Haryana politician in 1999.

'Back then all of us felt very strongly about it. I remember college students were incensed by what had happened. I am talking about the time a little later than 1999... the case was still going...and there was a fervour across the country. Sitting in Mumbai, people were doing signature campaigns and everyone felt involved in some ways. So it's nice to see youth have force,' she said.

In Rajkumar Gupta's 'No One Killed Jessica', releasing Jan 7, Vidya will be seen essaying the role of Sabrina Lall, Jessica's sister who fought day in and day out to get justice for her younger sister. After living the part in the reel, she hopes no one goes through the experience in real life.

'I would not want anyone to go through any legal battle for so long because the legality aside, it is emotionally draining. I do think that the verdict reassured my faith in the judicial system of the country, but, again, as a citizen I wish justice had been meted out earlier than it was,' said Vidya, who has teamed up with Rani Mukerji in the film. Vidya never got a chance to meet Sabrina Lall in person before or during the shooting of the film.

'Rajkumar Gupta was very clear that all I needed to know was the facts of the case. He wanted me to chart out an emotional journey of Sabrina on my own. Also, we didn't want to misuse her kindness because she was kind enough to go through our script and give her consent to our film. Sabrina's emotional journey is the core of the film. But, yes, it is a feature film...it is about stirring people's emotions,' she said.

Does she hope the film will inspire youth to be more vocal? 'I have never thought how inspirational could the film be for viewers. If it happens to inspire, great! But we have not set out to make the film for that purpose. What really inspired us was the spirit of Sabrina... spirit of all those people who played a role in the case,' Vidya added.

Katrina Kaif rules Bollywood as monarch bumblebee

Katrina Kaif rules Bollywood as monarch bumblebeeKatrina Kaif rules Bollywood as monarch bumblebee: A listers like Aishwarya Rai, Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu came up short to lure crowds this year, while woman luck's favourite Katrina Kaif and item youngster Malaika Arora Khan plus some newcomers maintained to keep the ticker ticking for Bollywood brave women.

Katrina Kaif: Ramp to rampage - this model-turned-actress has taken Bollywood by storm. Continuing her habit of turning a movie into a hit, the gorgeous face with a stiff upper lip that has now gone desi rocked the box office with her chaste Hindi volleys in Prakash Jha's political thriller Raajneeti. And if that wasn't it, she stood out to wipe out mankind with her pelvic thrusts in the item number Sheila ki jawani from her latest outing Tees Maar Khan. Katrina is leaving no stone unturned to enchant the public with her best.

Malaika Arora Khan: She has the look, the moves and knows how to groove. If Bollywood is synonymous with 'jhatkas' and 'matkas', it doesn't get bigger than this as Malaika left audiences gawking with her hump...her hump, her hump in the item number Munni badnaam hui from Dabangg. Have feet, will dance but won't act. And did one notice, this one's got a surname too to hang on to - Khan.

Vidya Balan: If the leading ladies in B-Town hit the gym with a vengeance to shed the extra kilos, Vidya hogged until she turned herself into a deglam, voluptuous and conniving woman for Ishqiya. Mouthing expletives soaked in chemical derivatives, this Parineeta girl turned femme fatale and left men scratching their brains.

Kajol: There is nothing that she can't do. Daughter, actress, wife, mother - Kajol's dormant comings and goings on the big screen took a surprise turn when the dusky beauty returned with three outings this year, My Name is Khan, We Are Family and Toonpur Ka Superhero. No matter the box office fate, she is one performer the audience would give anything to watch. However, leaving them wanting for more, the mother of two is now headed for a three-year sabbatical.

Konkona Sen Sharma: She already has to her credit powerful movies, the scripts of which some actresses wouldn't even dare read. And Konkona, as she is fondly called, surprised the masses with her metro wifey avatar in the comedy Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? before enacting a lawyer in Right Yaaa Wrong and a sexually aggressive woman in Mirch. Talk about her acting prowess, if one had a parameter to judge, this one deserves nothing but a 10 on 10.

Neetu Singh: As calm as a river and still sporting the fresh glow of the morning sunshine, yesteryear heroine Neetu Singh made a full-fledged comeback in Do Dooni Char 27 years after bidding adieu to celluloid. Bringing a smile on one's face with her acting nuances and immaculate chemistry with actor hubby Rishi Kapoor, she just proved she still has it in her to win people's hearts.

Kangana Ranaut: Perhaps the most unfortunate of talents this year, she was almost jostling for space in multi-starrers like Kites, Knock Out and No Problem but believe you or not, this golden gem did make her presence felt with her glitter in Milan Luthria's retro underworld saga Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.

Shalini Vatsa: Ever thought Dhaniya from Peepli Live would have an M. Phil degree? No one did, but this full time theatre actress left audiences applauding at her rants in the satire with her splendid portrayal of a rustic, illiterate, short-tempered mother of three with zeal.

Malaika Shenoy: Model, actress and voice-over artiste, this Mumbai-based girl got her due with Peepli Live. Her experience as a TV presenter in reality came handy to bring out the poise, panache and perfection of a star reporter in the black comedy which she edgily used to cast a dig at one real female scribe. Thanks to her involvement in the vibrant English theatre movement in Mumbai, her performance simply couldn't go unnoticed.

Sonakshi Sinha: What would you do if your debut project was with none other than Salman The Khan? Hit the metal and cut down flab! Perhaps the perfect example of fat to fab, Shatru Shotgun's daughter made a Dabangg debut in the year's highest grosser. Getting into the star mode day by day, this one's sure a dark horse.

Anushka Sharma: Petite, pretty and now pricey. This 22-year-old couldn't have asked for more. In two outings with the Yash Raj banner in the year - Badmaash Company and Band Baaja Baaraat - she managed to persuade audiences of her potential with her Delhi 'kudi' role in the latter.

Vidya Balan to mark Ekta Kapoor's ‘Ragini MMS’Vidya Balan to mark Ekta Kapoor's ‘Ragini MMS’: Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is all set to play lead in Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming venture ‘Ragini MMS’, which is based on the infamous MMS scandal in a prestigious Delhi based school, Zee News reported. According to a report on spicezee.com, apparently, Kangna Ranaut had been approached by Ekta Kapoor to play the lead role. “When the former showed uneasiness on hearing the explicit content of the film, Kangna Ranaut chickened out at the last minute. However, Ekta Kapoor was quick to find Kangna’s replacement in Vidya Balan,” the website reported.

The report further revealed that while talking to a daily, a source confirmed the news and said, “Kangna walked out of the film, perhaps because she had developed cold feet about the movie. So, they`ve approached her.” When contacted, the CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, said, “I don`t want to say anything at this stage. But the film is definitely on.” After playing the power-packed role of Sabrina Lal, sister of Jessica in ‘No One Killed Jessica’ and sex-siren Silk Smitha in ‘Dirty Picture’, it seems Vidya is keen on a serious image makeover and has become a hot favourite of Bollywood filmmakers, the website reported. daily times monitor
