YRF makes way for newcomer

When Yash Raj Films gauged the potential of investing in tv they launched in to Tellywood with YRF band of shows. However the shows did not do well and soon were pulled off-air back to back. Now the production house has sensed the potential of young director and so has decided to set a department called Y Films (Y for Youth).

It will be headed by Aditya Chopra and will comprise of young filmmakers.The objective of this project is to make intelligent, small and medium budget films. Success of films like ‘Udaan’ and ‘Peepli Live’ has been an eye-opener of the industry, to an extent that YRF that always believed in making mega-budgeted films set abroad that too with celebrities, turned to set special department for this kind of movies.

Anushka Sharma Hit flop score: A bright begin of a lifework: Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ was the introduction vehicle of the feisty performing artist Anushka Sharma. Notwithstanding ‘Rab Ne…’ did for her what ‘Om Shanti Om’ did for Deepika or ‘Dabang’ did for Sonakshi.Anushka got off to a flying start in her very first film that had the stamp of Yash Raj banner and the omnipresence of the King Khan. Anushka, as per reports, had a 3 film contract with the Yash Rajs and even though she may deny this piece of news, there is no denying the fact that her next two releases have come from the same factory.

After the super hit ‘Rab Ne…’ which gave Anushka the platform she needed, she tried to conjure up something special with ‘Badmaash Company’. The film, however, sank and the only thing that got noticed was her yellow sarong and her bed scene with Shahid Kapoor.

But just when the critics were about to write her off, ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ happened and the equations changed. A refreshing take on wedding and romance, Anushka was the only well-known face in the low-hyped film. But despite being a slow-starrer, BBB picked up momentum after being given rave reviews. Anushka’s performance earned her many brownie points.

So, with 2 hits out of 3, her score is pretty impressive at the moment and it is to be seen how the future augurs for her. She shall be next seen in the February release of ‘Patiala House’ opposite actor Akshay Kumar.

Anushka's triumphant three times for Yash Raj: First RAB NE BANA DI JODI, then BADMAASH COMPANY and now BAND BAAJA BAARAAT. Yes, you are absolutely on dot, these are lead actress Anushka Sharma's hat trick of successes for India's premier production venture Yash Raj Films.

Although Anushka has been refuting the news of a three film contract with Yash Raj and she cites Nikhil Advani's PATIALA HOUSE (which she claims to have signed even before BAND BAAJA BAARAAT) to substantiate her point, but as things stand today Anushka has indeed completed her three films with Yash Raj and that too very successfully.

All her above mentioned films will go down as profitable ventures for Yash Raj Films obviously with the blockbuster RAB NE BANA DI JODI being the most successful of them all, thanks to King Khan. Though Anushka was not credited much with the success of RAB NE..., despite a brilliant all round performance that too opposite SRK, yet there is no doubt that it's incredible success did help her become an instant hit with the mass and class (very much like what OSO did for Deepika and DABANGG has done for Sonakshi). This translated into a wonderful second innings via BADMAASH COMPANY and then came BAND BAAJA BAARAAT1, where Anushka was one of the only few known faces.

As we had been saying time and again, BAND BAAJA BAARAAT has indeed turned out to be the dark horse, and though it did open slow but it's positive word-of-mouth worked beautifully and the film has shown one of the best trending of 2010, as it has been good and steady even in its second week which means that the film indeed would turn out to be a successful venture for Yash Raj. The final outcome though is still awaited but all credit to Anushka for pulling this off and we are sure that after this Yash Raj (and especially Aditya who showed so much faith in her) would want her do more films for them, as was Anushka's wish (we had informed our readers that Anuskha is ready to do ten more films for Aditya!) Madhuri Dixit is back to modeling

Madhuri Dixit is back to modeling: Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit is back in the thick of things shooting not only for the dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' that brought her back to India this time, but also an endorsement for which she has apparently been paid an unheard-of price.

According to reliable sources, Madhuri and her old business manager Rakesh Nath (Rikku) have finalised at least three other endorsements that would keep the actress busy for a good part of January. When contacted Rikku, who has looked after Madhuri's career from the start, admits Madhuri's endorsement plans.

'She is at this very moment shooting for an endorsement campaign for Hindustan Lever product. Other endorsements are being finalised. Meetings are on,' he said. The buzz in the film industry is that Madhuri is determined to make a comeback in movies.

Apparently Yash Raj Films, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Karan Johar and UTV have come up with tempting offers. Madhuri is on the verge of signing one of these. 'You're right. She has got four-five very good offers. She will definitely do another film soon. But this time we have to be very careful. I've worked with other actresses, but Madhuriji is Madhuriji,' said Nath.

The diva seems more than happy keeping busy at home away from her adopted home. 'I'm having a ball. I am so glad people have liked me on 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa'. I am enjoying this busy phase before the camera,' said Madhuri who is married to US-based doctor Sriram Nene and has two sons with him. Her children are expected to join her this week for Christmas holidays. 'I can't wait to see them,' said Madhuri happily before rushing for her next shot.
