In his next movie Patiala House, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will be seen essaying a part which has been inspired by England cricket team’s Sikh member Monty Singh Panesar.Monty Panesar is the first Sikh to join England cricket team and the spinner is a crowd favourite.

Panesar’s parents migrated there from Punjab.In Patiala House, Akshay will be seen as Parghat Singh Kahlon, a British citizen whose dream is to be a pace bowler.

The movie is being directed by Nikhil Advani and also celebs Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia. It is slated to release in Feb next year.

Deepika’s buys a 16 crore apartment

Actress Deepika Padukone is intelligently investing in property. But it was also Dia who burst the little boys’ bubble. A little petulant about having to put aside their pet action comedy, Sahil reveals, “Zayed and I loved the action comedy, you’re either laughing or watching action in every scene with very endearing characters.

But it was Dia who influenced us to start with a romantic comedy. She had this wonderful idea, a one-line idea which she once told me about. I started working on it and by the time Zayed and I were ready with our action comedy, I was also ready with the first draft of the romantic comedy. Dia reasoned with us and said, ‘We’re all going to put our hearts into this company, let’s first make a story of the heart’.

We mulled it over. Boys will be boys, we wanted to do the action comedy and we were like, won’t that be fun? But what she suggested made a lot of sense. So our first film will be this romantic comedy.”

Well whatever, but they’re here to make movies.
Zayed: “I know writers who’ve left their scripts with corporate offices, they’d gather dust for three years and then the subject would get stale. We are saying, broaden your vision guys, come to us with your new ideas. It’s not necessary that Dia or I should be in it or that Sahil should direct it.”

They want to follow the model set by Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan – make films that make money for everybody down the line. Zayed has the last word. “Some icons are already following the model but we are the youngest producers in town today!”

As for me, I am neither the ‘moral brigade’ and nor am I part of the ‘immoral brigade’, so to speak. But I am the modern Pakistani woman, the girl who Veena was supposedly representing. As I observed everything and listened to arguments from both sides, I found one essential thing missing from both arguments: Veena Malik does not represent me. I do not relate to her and our similarity ends where it begins: like me, she is a woman, a Pakistani, a Muslim and she wears heels. And for some women, the latter two don’t hold either.

While I appreciated Veena at some point, especially for the proper Urdu she spoke, she is insignificant because there are much better rolemodels out there, people who I can actually relate to and look up to.

One such woman is Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. An award-winning filmmaker, Sharmeen has worked with refugees, women’s advocate groups and human rights defenders in over ten countries. A resident of a locality in Karachi populated by middle-income families, Naseem started her sporting career in school and was eventually spotted by army coaches. The rest is, as they say, history, with her winning a gold medal at the last SAF Games. Apart from individuals, the modern Pakistani woman is also lucky to have a whole team of good rolemodels. One is referring to the Pakistan women’s national cricket team which recently won a gold medal at the Asian Games.

To me, Veena Malik’s dresses, men and stilettos don’t matter because she does not represent me. The modern Pakistani woman goes out wearing whatever she wants baggy pants or running shoes and carrying whatever she wants a tote or a camera bag. The modern Pakistani woman is a success story who does not flirt with men to show to the rest of the world that she is good and has potential. I am a modern Pakistani woman who has a job, pays her taxes and drives around town. And I don’t need a Veena Malik to represent me not in India, not anywhere in the world.

But the properties have not been confiscated yet,” said Adnan Sami’s lawyer Vibhav Krishna.The ED order describes that Adnan Sami’s petition for buying property in Mumbai was declined by the Reserve Bank of India in 2003 owning to his Pakistani nationality.

He had told me about his upcoming project and that his legal team will take care of all the formalities if I want to buy property.” “In actuality my bank loan was also cleared and the property registered in my name. The 32-year-old has a vivid recollection of youth participation during the over-a-decade-long legal battle following the murder of model Jessica Lall, who was shot dead by Manu Sharma, the son of a Haryana politician in 1999.

'Back then all of us felt very strongly about it. I remember college students were incensed by what had happened. I am talking about the time a little later than 1999... the case was still going...and there was a fervour across the country. Sitting in Mumbai, people were doing signature campaigns and everyone felt involved in some ways. So it's nice to see youth have force,' she said.

In Rajkumar Gupta's 'No One Killed Jessica', releasing Jan 7, Vidya will be seen essaying the role of Sabrina Lall, Jessica's sister who fought day in and day out to get justice for her younger sister. After living the part in the reel, she hopes no one goes through the experience in real life.

'I would not want anyone to go through any legal battle for so long because the legality aside, it is emotionally draining. I do think that the verdict reassured my faith in the judicial system of the country, but, again, as a citizen I wish justice had been meted out earlier than it was,' said Vidya, who has teamed up with Rani Mukerji in the film. Vidya never got a chance to meet Sabrina Lall in person before or during the shooting of the film.

'Rajkumar Gupta was very clear that all I needed to know was the facts of the case. He wanted me to chart out an emotional journey of Sabrina on my own. Also, we didn't want to misuse her kindness because she was kind enough to go through our script and give her consent to our film. Sabrina's emotional journey is the core of the film. But, yes, it is a feature film...it is about stirring people's emotions,' she said.

Does she hope the film will inspire youth to be more vocal? 'I have never thought how inspirational could the film be for viewers. If it happens to inspire, great! But we have not set out to make the film for that purpose. What really inspired us was the spirit of Sabrina... spirit of all those people who played a role in the case,' Vidya added.

Insiders have it that actress Madhuri Dixit Nene is on the brink of signing a movie soon. According to our source, top filmmakers from Yash Chopra to Sanjay Leela Bhansali have shown interest in casting her in the lead. Our source said, “Madhuri will sign a movie soon. And justifiably so, Hrithik Roshan is nervous about essaying Amitabh Bachchan’s national award winning role in Agneepath. “I am nervous but at the same time it’s a good challenge for me. I hope I live up to his expectations. I would be happy if I can talk to Amitji before taking up the role. I would like to discuss a few things about it,” he informs.

Hrithik says, “Dad is working on the script of Krrish 2 and we are planning something new. I am looking forward to doing some action – it’’s been a long time. High Court lets Bigg Boss air at 9 pm

Bigg Boss 4 got a massive reprieve from the Bombay High Court following orders that it can continue to air on the prime time slot at 9 pm. Presenting the case on behalf of the concerned channel, senior councel Ram Jethmalani’s arguments nullified the fresh directives issued to the channel by the Information and Braodcasting Ministry.

A vacation bench of justice SJ Kathawalla and justice UD Salvi allowed Colors channel to air the show at 9 pm till December 27 while directing the Ministry of Information and Broadcast (I&B) to submit its respond.The court said that the channel could air Bigg Boss at 9 pm, provided they give an undertaking that they shall not screen any dialogue that is required to be beeped or any obscene gestures made by the participants.

Before, I&B had issued notice to Colors channel on November 16 directing it to shift the reality show away from the prime time as the show was unpleasant, highly objectionable and not fit for kids.
