The bestselling fantasy/sci-fi author and screenwriter tied the knot Sunday with Dresden Dolls singer Amanda Palmer in a cozy ceremony studded with literary luminaries.
"The handful of people who were at the wedding were the people we were going to have dinner with on the Second of January anyway," Gaiman wrote in his online journal. "They just got a little more than they were expecting."
Sounds like a character in a Gaiman novel..
Daniel Handler, aka children's book author Lemony Snicket, played accordion as
Palmer walked down the aisle, er, stairs. Chabon and Ayelet Waldman's daughter Rosie served as flower girl.
Singer-songwriter Jason Webley, the other half of Palmer's new group Evelyn Evelyn, got ordained online and performed the ceremony, which concluded with recitation of an e.e. cummings poem.
According to Gaiman, the bride and groom spent exactly one night together, then Palmer was off to Australia, he returned to their home near Minneapolis, and they will reunite next week in Tasmania.
